Why You Should Stop hand Wrapping Your Pallets

Do you tend to wrap the pallets that you have by hand? While this may work for protecting the products, you’re actually losing tons of money during the long haul. If you have products that are in high demand, and you’re missing or  cutting it close to some orders, you may want to consider the solution to be an automaton. That’s because hand wrapping this is definitely not as cost effective, especially when you compare it to normal stretch wrapping. Automated, of course, is great for saving the time and money that you want.

Why Manual Wrapping Is Ruining Production

Lots of people don’t actually realize just how much they’re losing out of this because they’re spending all of this time manually wrapping this. While you may be pumping out tons of goods, the workers that are at the end of this have to continuously work all at the same time to hit these targets.

A lot of productivity increases happen with automaton, especially if you’re using it as an end-of-the-line solution for packaging. Even with some minor upgrades, it can actually increase this by 100% or even more. Customers looked at the productivity of their pallets, and it was discovered that it takes about four minutes to wrap this by hand, and this is something that’s quite impactful.

Most employees only get around 125 pallets every single week. By this upgrade to the semi-automatic wrapping, they cut the time away from the wrapping portions, and they are able to get whole pallets wrapped in just two minutes. Plus, it’s less strain on the employees, so they’re able to get a whole lot more done, in a whole lot faster manners.

Less Protection

Did you know that hand wrapping is nowhere near as good as the stretch wrapping when done by a machine?

That’s because it has to be done in the same way, but human error is something that affects a lot of loads. The problem with humans is while we are good at our jobs, we cannot apply the same force that’s needed to offer the same load containment, and this is because of fatigue, and other such problems that can be a major hassle down the road.

Human error is something that can be hard for people, and it results in a lot of people checking pallets again and again before they load the next possible shipment in place.

You have to continuously make sure that you’re properly wrapping these over and over, and this actually can cause the labor to completely decrease, and it will impact all sorts of productivity metrics.

It also is much less protective, and there’s a lot more risk for work injuries, including dizziness and the like, and this can lead to the insurance rates skyrocketing. Plus, if you’re constantly wrapping, you’re putting your body into strange positions a lot, and it can actually create musculoskeletal disorders.

For a lot of people, this actually can eat majorly into the profits, as you’re spending a lot of ore on their medical costs rather than on the productivity that’ll help grow.

Automaton is the best way to wrap better, reduces the film that’s used, and also provides less strain for the employees.

When choosing whether or not you should keep the hand wrapping or go automatic, the answer should be obvious. While the employees that you have are vital, if you’re constantly putting their health and bodies at risk, you’re eating into the profits, and automaton stretching is a better way to secure the shipments.
