Being a younger guy, I constantly have to fight the stereotypes and the stigma that is associated with male bakers. I think that historically baking is something that mostly women have done around the house to take care of the family and all that, but I am here to say that things are changing. There is no problem with guys wanting to bake at all. In fact, it is probably one of the coolest things that one could do on a regular basis.

As a little bit of backstory about me, I would like to share about my childhood and how I grew up baking with my mother from day to day. Baking was a huge hobby and interest of my mother, and this quickly translated into my life as I would spend a lot of time at home with her. See, baking was always a way for me and mother to connect to one another and to spend time together enjoying what we love. Because of this, baking became something that I did regularly in order to get better and have more responsibilities in the kitchen.

One of my favorite parts of baking is picking out all the ingredients that you will need to create whatever you are baking that day. There is something so nice about picking out specific ingredients and creating something beautiful that everyone around you can also enjoy once the bake is complete. My mother would take me to the store most of the time in order to pick up groceries for the week, and this included any baking supplies and ingredients that we may need for any bakes that we were planning on doing. One such day, I remember specifically that my mother told me I could pick out any type of candy boxes to put into the cookies we were baking that afternoon. (I was not going to put the actual candy boxes in the cookies, just the candy that was inside the boxes). I am not a very decisive person, so it took me a long time to figure out which candy I wanted to pick. I have always been a huge proponent of butterfinger supremacy as a candy, but not a lot of people agree with me on this issue.

Regardless, I decided to pick up some butterfingers to put inside the peanut butter cookies we were going to be making that afternoon. Doesn’t that sound good? Well, my mom decided that we need more than just butterfinger, so she asked to pick out another type of candy. I thought long and hard about what would best go into peanut butter cookies with butterfinger inside, because I knew that this was a very important decision to make. If I didn’t choose the right combination of candy that goes into the peanut butter cookies, we could have a lot of disappointed family members who are looking forward to eating our cookies. That being said, I knew I had to make the right choice. That is why I decided to stick to the tried and true candy that everyone loves; that’s right, I’m talking about M&M’s baby. We finished shopping and brought all our items to the checkout counter, where my mom paid and we made our way out of the store. This article is useless.
