Tips for Designing the Font on boxes

When you design boxes, you want to put all of the branding and marketing on this. You want to make sure that you also have a logo that’s front and center, or near the top center, and you also might want to have a tagline that’s catchy, but also something that's comprehensible and legible in most cases. Usually, the typography has to catch the eye, since this converts the customers to be someone who is loyal and supports you. Here, let’s go over the types of fonts to use, and some tips to make it stand out.

The font type.

The type of font is what’ll make or break the packaging. Think about the brand’s tone.  Is it fun and simple? Or is it serious? The fonts express your ideas and emotions. If the image of the brand is colorful and fun, then the packaging needs to be bright and fun. Another thing to include is whether or not you want a serif font or another type of font. This shows the image of the brand as a bit cheerful, as opposed if you use a calligraphy font.

The most popular font type of the serif, as it offers the serous and classic feels to it. Times New Roman is one of the best for books, newspapers, and the like, and you want something that’s designed, professional and really stands out. Sans serif is another one. Sans serif is one that doesn’t use the lines that are at the end of this, which usually serif fonts have.  this is done in a lot of fonts that mimic the styles of those ads from the 1800s, offering an informal and more fun feel and tone.

Decorative font is another one, as it can include stencil and grunge text, which is cool if you want to make it stand out and be really creative. Finally, you’ve got the script font, which is cursive, calligraphy, and other kinds of fonts. This is warmer, more personal, and offers luxury and elegance as well.

Font Size Matters Too

The font size is another part of this, as it should not be so small you cannot read it, but also, you don’t want it to be so huge it distracts from the packaging. You want to make sure that the brand name is the largest font, and you want to make sure that the tagline, hashtag, any social media and whatnot, are small, but also not so small that you can’t read them.

Include Just the Necessary

It may feel like you have to include everything, but it’s overwhelming whenever you do try to make this work.  You want to make sure that you also include as much information that's needed. This is important, since if you include too little or too much, it does compromise the type of font, the size, and how you stand out from the others. The typography size is also very important, along with the information placed on the packaging.

Customers do want to know about the product and its packaging, but you also want to make sure that you don’t have it so big that it’s hard to read.

For subscription boxes for example, you want to include the information that’ll help with much larger product ranges. You should also look to make sure that the product is also included within the box, and also make it so that it fits the packaging.

Font matters and getting this right will help you improve your business, so make sure to do just that when choosing fonts.
