For those shipping via carrier, this has a better impact on the costs of shipping, especially if you’re charging these by the weight and the shipment size.

Via reducing the pack size, you’re also decreasing any fresh air that’s there. You’re also reducing the heavy amounts of void fill that’s there, reducing the costs and the wastes.  You definitely want to make sure that you do have the best protection possible on this. If you’re shipping something that has a lot of delicate features with it, you shouldn’t be stingy with the void fill, but instead provide enough so that it protects the item, and gets this done.
