Choosing the Correct box Sizes

Choosing the right size for boxes and packaging may seem simple, but a lot of people don’t know the right procedure for choosing the ideal box for needs. When you get the wrong size for boxes, you risk item damage, and also incurring the higher, larger shipping costs, or wasting materials and time. Boxes that are too big will have space wasted inside, and you will have an item that’s damaged during the shipment process. Boxes that are too small don’t properly protect the items, leading to them being damaged, especially when the items aren’t correctly insulated. Whether you’re shipping small, household items, perishable goods, or even items that are breakable, you need the right box. Here, we’ll go over the different ways for you to choose the right box, and various factors to help you choose the ideal box.

How to Choose

Choosing the ideal box is good for being safe, and cost-effective. Guessing and randomly choosing boxes does lead to higher damage, costs for shipping, and major inconvenience. To choose the right sizes for boxes, there are a few steps to take.

The first step is to measure these correctly. This includes the width, length, and heights.  Use the correct measurement for the unit, including centimeters and inches. You should also consider the fragility and the weight of the item.  Heavier, more fragile types of items, do require a sturdier or a larger box to help with providing better protection. Also, keep in mind adding cushioning such as packaging paper and bubble wrap.

For items that are heavier, use something that’s strong, like smaller bubbles to help with durability.

Look at the internal dimensions and compare this to the product measurement.  The dimensions that are on websites tend to be inside dimensions.

Focus on the length and width of said box dimensions, ensuring it’s the correct fit.  It’s important as well to consider not just the external dimensions of the box, but the interior, in order to have more efficient packaging. Remember as well that the dimensions of the box should be less than those inside.

Also bear in mind the specific requirements that are there. For instance, perishables will need more insulated types of packaging. Some companies do have some restrictions on sizes and weight, so keep that in mind before you choose a box.

When you measure the item, consider the fragility and the weight that’s there, and compare the internal parts of the boxes to ones that are available, allowing you to choose the correct ones each time.

Learning to Measure

When you’re shipping, you need to choose the right box size. The best way to make sure you’ve got what’s right, is to measure this.

You want to choose the right size of the box, measuring this object, and here we’ll go over the right measurements for objects for the shipping of this.

First is the length, which is where you measure the longest side of this object, from one edge to the next one.  Use a measuring tape to record this measurement.

The width is the widest part from one edge to the edge on the other side. Measure it and record.

Finally, the height.  Measure this from the tallest part of the object, bottom to the very top.

Get the measurements nice and precise and ensure that you round up to the nearest centimeter or inch.  You want to as well factor in any extra handles or parts on the measurement.

Choosing the right box is important, and you’ll be able to do just that with the tips here.
