The Major innovations in Child-Resistant Packaging

Child-resistant packaging is important for so many industries. Whether it’s for those who are in the medical field trying to secure prescriptions, to even those who are selling hazardous materials that children may get their hands on.

You need child-resistant packaging because if it falls into their hands, there is a chance of misuse and abuse. Sometimes, this can even be fatal.

Many industries have to use it, or else they cannot sell their items.   Here, we’ll go over the exact standards and regulations that child-resistant packaging has, and why it impacts various industries.

The Factors in Child-Resistant Packaging

There are a few factors that make these child-resistant forms of packaging stand out for a lot of people.

The first, is the design of this. Most of these child-resistant forms of packaging use push and turn caps, which are hard for children to open.   Most young children do not have the motor skills to make this work, and so they won’t get into the contents that are there.

There are also blister packs where you have to push on the item to get it out. Many pills come in this form and it is pretty easy for adults to get it out, but not so for children.

Most of the material choices are hard plastic, with caps that can be a challenge for a lot of young ones to open up.   There are also ways these are constructed, with the item being made in a manner where children might have some challenges to open them.

These different design methods play a focal part in the overall state of building these items, and the materials are made with the intention of ensuring that kids do not get in, and adults do not have a hard time opening these items as well.

Innovative solutions to Child-resistant packaging

Many of these designs are not necessarily new. While hard caps used to be a popular one, these days, lots of designs focus on a lighter plastic packaging, and also those that are less harmful to the environment.

Most of these technologies also include press and seal types of caps, where once there’s enough pressure, it comes down. It can be great for a lot of people, because it gives them a simple, easy solution to aid with the tear resistance that is needed to open this.

The goal of these emerging solutions is to balance the safety of the item, while also offering some accessibility and convenience that will come with this.  It is quite useful for a lot of patrons, because it’s easy for them, but also is hard enough for a child to get into it.

Overall, the goal is to make things easier for an adult to open. Older individuals with prescriptions may need packaging that’s fitting for their hands, and not something super dexterous.   With more using the blister packs, it is simple for them to open it, and also keeps kids out.

Child-resistant packaging does have a few challenges that go along with it.   One, is the design. You do not want to make it too hard, nor too easy to open.  Too hard, and you have unhappy customers. Too easy, and there are lawsuits. Overall, the end goal of all of this is to make it so that you are able to give the best experience that you can.

We plan to continuously improve the quality of this packaging. Through this, innovation and compliance will rule, and there will as well, be a lot of amazing benefits that come as a result of these changes.
